Oh so this is why my kid is already about at the same vibes as me! I have been astounded by how that could possibly be — now it makes sense 😂

Thank you, incredible. I knew spiral dynamics / integral were missing something — this is so intuitive and well described xoxo

Beautiful article and I’ve long responded to my own lament about living through this turmoil with the thought that maybe most of us have lived through every age in our various lives. It helps with the jealousy. :) also one of my main questions is always, can we say with absolute certainty that — given the exact same lives and conditions of others we judge harshly—we’d have responded or believed differently? And, even more provocatively: let’s say the most passionate activist was actually born a son of DJT. Does that activist know, with any certainty, that their righteous fire is intrinsic and not circumstantial? Would they have fought their father?

Thank you for the thoughtful comments. We're all a product of our environments to some degree. I know quite a bit about my past lives and this current incarnation seems to be a pretty late awakening for me—but likely for a reason. Had I come into greater awareness thirty years ago I'd have far less empathy for the world and how it currently works. I'd also have less understanding, which means I'd be less able to get things done within our current chaos. The thing I'm sitting with even today is "can I view the future in the same positive way as I now view past lives?" Can I stop with the goal setting and the "looking forward to..." and just trust that anything and everything that comes my way can (and will) serve my continued spiritual development?

Wonderful article Bodhi, thank you. I actually have a couple of Tara’s books in my to-be-read pile, but maybe I will bump this one closer to the front of the line.

I’m currently reading David R Hawkins Map of Consciousness. Are you familiar with it? It’s a different framework, but not completely dissimilar. If you’ve read it, I’d be very curious about how you compare the two.

One more thing I want to comment on, though I could imagine conversations on these topics going for hours. I fall into bucket number two. I absolutely believe that we are in a period of consciousness expansion, but I also believe that we’re going to have to go through some very difficult times to realize it. So I’m excited but with a bit of trepidation.

Hi, Linnea. I love Hawkins and I view his scale more as states rather than stages. In a given day someone might move up and down the Hawkins scale quite a bit, even if it's just a few moments before they settle back into their personal baseline. Whereas Tara's model (along with some of the others) is more about our longer term stage where we sit regarding most of our values, beliefs, behaviors, etc. But that's just my take and David might disagree (from the other side) :)

And yes, I tend to agree with you that it could get pretty rough before we level out and climb into something new. I believe as long as we can view it with a sense of trust and hope and be open to ways we can take action to help those around us through any difficulties we might be surprised that it's easier than we may have imagined.

I agree with that and that’s what I try and bring myself back to anytime. I feel overwhelmed or existential terror. Coming back to trusting and and surrendering to the bigger movement that I feel happening in my bones and all around us.

Thank you Bodhi, that’s helpful!

I think I’m on a similar path as you, though perhaps a couple of years behind. Have you by chance read the Holographic Universe? I need to read it again and more slowly. I like to geek out on the Science of Woo, so to speak.

Here’s what I mean: https://open.substack.com/pub/thegoodpsychotherapist/p/the-space-between-science-and-soul?r=2cg3f8&utm_medium=ios

Haven't read Holographic Universe. I dabbled in the science books for a while and my fav is Proof of Spiritual Phenomena by Mona Sobhani. Kinda felt like I got what I needed from her and a few others. Once I found the actual mystics (in books and in real life) I became less focused on the science angle of things...although God bless the scientists brave enough to put their reputations on the line and bring this info to the public!

Another beautiful piece. I’m squarely in the “fall apart before it gets better” camp—but I also believe this unraveling is what might catalyze the faster collective shift toward a new way of being.

People sometimes ask if I’m afraid for my kids. The honest answer? I think life will be harder for them in some ways than it was for me. But I’m raising them to be brave agents of Love—rooted in compassion, willing to meet what’s coming with courage and care. Have you read LSD and the mind of the universe? The later journeys are quite sobering and insightful on the topic of what we’ll have to move through. I’m eager to pick up the Stairway to Heaven, both for myself and to consider in my parenting

I love the framework of loving power / powerful love. It echoes the sacred dance of masculine and feminine, of parent and protector.

The concept of praeis also really struck me. I was raised Catholic and always loved the Beatitudes—but “meek” never sat right. It felt like a word shaped to keep people small. “Humble” holds some strength. “Meek” felt like keep your head down, listen to the man and somehow you step into power? How would the “meek” know how to appropriately exercise that power?

And not to go full rabbit hole here (though I think this is a safe space), but there’s something symbolic about the race to Mars. I know it’s the closest planet—but it’s also the one named for the god of War. That feels… worth noticing.

Love the insight about Mars. So true, and fitting! I believe our lives are largely devoid of meaning at the moment and in some ways because we've insulated ourselves from any sort of "trouble" the trouble finds us in other ways such as mental and physical illnesses.

But we crave meaning and purpose. I love the phrase "brave agents of love." My hope is that our kids have their chance to take action and do something truly meaningful, and I think that trumps any sort of comfort or stability that modern life provides. (I talk a big game in that last sentence but I can't say that I'm courageous enough to do anything too radical with our kid, other than try to raise her to be loving and dynamic and comfortable with interacting with other humans.)

Haven't read the book you mentioned but I've heard good stuff about it. It's interesting about the future. Many mystics have seen some grim stuff. But then they also say that it's always in motion (Yoda said this too, lol.) So I know one really powerful individual who used to see all sorts of disasters headed our way but now he says it's looking more peaceful; that enough grace has been pumped into the world and enough people's hearts are opening that we might have an easier ride.

Who knows? I say expect the unexpected. Expect more Telepathy Tapes-like revelations that pull the general public in a direction of expanded consciousness.

I read Tara’s wonderful book after an earlier recommendation of yours. Even so, I appreciate the clear and succinct examples of the levels of consciousness in this article, which helped me see very clearly where I am now in my journey. Thank you!

Another article to serve as a guide, thank you! Reading a book on chakras from a developmental psychology perspective and what you've listed tracks to what some call a balanced solar plexus chakra with an open heart chakra. Balancing just one can in itself be a lifetime project for many of us. Love and will coexisting together seems to be the goal.

Sweet profound article

This scene put me back in à vision on my book

It’s a powerful scene, Jesus literally on a mountain, surrounded by those who wanted to learn, those who sought relief from their present-day struggles.

Wanted to share a pic but… cannot
